Based in New York City, Healing Hands Abroad is a multi-disciplinary group of volunteer medical professionals.  We share a common interest: providing specialized surgical care to underprivileged communities of the world.
Founder and President Dr. Michael J. Lacqua initially traveled to Central America to provide plastic surgical care to patients of the Cayo District of Belize. Seeing the vital need for other services, Healing Hands Abroad expanded to provide a variety of surgical specialties and anesthesia. Volunteer doctors, nurses and support staff from Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island and NYU Langone, Brooklyn make up the core members of the Healing Hands Abroad family.  More recently, doctors and health care providers from throughout the United States have joined us in our mission. Our reach has expanded to serving communities in Ecuador and the Dominican Republic.
We’ve recently earned our Platinum Seal of Transparency with Candid! Get updates on our impact through our Nonprofit Profile.
